French and Indian War
The French and Indian War was fought from 1754-1763 between France and Great Britain in North America. The battles in North America were part of the broader war across the world between France and Great Britain (both sides had support from other European nations) known as the Seven Years' War (1756-1763). For losing the Seven Years' War, France ceded all of its continental North American territory to Britain and ally Spain (France later regained the territory west of the Mississippi River in 1800 which it promptly sold to the United States in 1803, known as the Louisiana Purchase).
Result: British Victory
