Rosie the Riveter We Can Do It
The now famous "We Can Do It!" war time poster. Originally published in 1943 for internal use to motivate female workers at Westinghouse, it rocketed to popularity in the 1980s. The woman in the poster was most likely modeled after a series of nationally distributed images of Naomi Parker, a 20 year old worker at Naval Air Station, Alameda (San Francisco) from 1942. This would morph into the persona of "Rosie the Riveter" that we all know today.
