Operation Eclipse Battle Map
Operation Eclipse was the planned Allied airborne operation by the American 17th, 82nd, and 101st Airborne Divisions (along with a British airborne brigade) to capture Berlin before the Soviets did. In the end, the operation did not go forward as Eisenhower decided it was not worth the casualties as the post war boundaries had already been decided upon earlier in 1945 at Yalta and all but West Berlin was in the Soviet zone.
This British Operation Eclipse planning map shows the post war boundaries and is a great example of how much fighting the Americans and British would have had to do just to beat the Soviets to Berlin and the land back to the Soviets.
