European Campaign Map of the 90th Infantry Division
Campaign across Europe of the 90th Infantry Division and nicknamed "Tough Ombres." The 90th originally sourced its manpower from Texas and Oklahoma, which is why the division patch is of a T and O. Parts of the 90th Division saw action on D-Day at Utah beach with the remaining part of the division coming across on or after 10 June. After the breakout from Normandy, the 90th was in the middle of the dash across France and was apart of the Battle of the Bulge and ended their campaign in Czechoslovakia. Interesting note: The most prolific fighter ace of all time, Erich Hartmann (352 victories), surrendered to the 90th on VE Day.
